It's really not that bad. He has been waking up twice, usually around midnight and 4, then up and ready to go at 6:30! But once you've tasted the forbidden fruit, its a little bit of a bummer going back. The bigger bummer is bedtime. Each night I have to brace myself for the pre-bedtime wailing. I learned that if you expect it, the nights when he goes down easy are a pleasant surprise. He used to go down pretty easy at night, but an angry streak has come out lately. It's the same streak that comes out before nap time, usually his afternoon nap.
Yesterday at 3 pm I texted Eric something to the effect of "your son is about to drive me insane." He was not pleased about the prospect of sleep, but apparently also unhappy about being awake. This text was sent about 5 minutes before I smelled something suspect coming from Brady's diaper. The kid had not pooped in over a week (!) so I knew it would probably be disastrous when it did occur. Fortunately, everything stayed in the diaper. I was feeling especially relieved when he started pooping again right after I slipped a new diaper under him. Phew, I really dodged the bullet. As I was congratulating myself on my deftness, I waited and let him do his business again. Then I moved on to diaper #3. Unfortunately, I didn't wait long enough to let him finish...I underestimated his pooping abilities (I don't know why...did I mention this child hadn't gone in a week) and wasn't quite fast enough.
The good news is that despite the last hour of fussing, Brady was now in good spirits. Covered in poop (more on his mom than on him), but happy nonetheless.
Moving on to happier subjects, I have not taken very many pictures lately, so I made up for it in his latest photo shoot. This is what I call, "Same Position, Different Face."
One common element is drool.
