There are certain places it's good to be a regular: church, the gym, the library, just to name a few. Then there are places where if everyone knows your name, it may not be such a good thing: the doctor, the pharmacist, your local bar, just to name a few. We've been frequenting two of the previous three on a regular basis lately (which has me wishing I could frequent the third).
Besides a cough and a runny nose, Brady has seemed to be feeling ok since he started the last round of antibiotics. The trouble with being such a good 20-month old patient, is not being able to tell us when things aren't good...until they're really not good. Brady was restless last night and I got up around 4 am with him and brought him into our bed. He was like a mini-furnace, so I took his temperature he was running a high fever. Only Brady, running a 103.1 degree temperature, would be lying in our bed giggling uncontrollably as his dad pretended to take a bite out of his neck. If all men could take a page out of Brady's book of how to act when you're sick....
His fever was gone this morning, but Brady wasn't quite himself (which means needing to attach himself to me like a leach), so I took him back to the doctor to find out what the problem was. Turns out amoxicillin, which is what he was taking for his latest ear infection, cures about 80%-90% of all ear infections. Brady, of course, is not one to be in the majority, and his poor ear is still flaming red, said the doctor. So we're trying something else, hoping the third time is the charm and I can have my normal child back.
Red is the color of February, the color of love, the color of the team that just whooped up on the Tar Heels this weekend, and hopefully not the color of Brady's ear as we put this month behind us.
