Survival by the light of the iPad

We left the hospital yesterday afternoon and brought Brady to his new home. While the "nurse call" button will be sorely missed, it feels great to be home. Eric was especially pleased to say goodbye to his "bed" which was no more than a recliner. Although judging by his comatose state the first night, it didn't seem to be much of a sleeping hindrance.

Brady's entrance into the world was not without complications (more on that later), and Brady's first night home proved to be equally exciting. We dealt with the usual first-time parents questions: what does he wear, where does he sleep, why is he making that noise, can he breathe, etc. Added to that, about 1 am, while trying to get Brady to eat, our electricity went out. No storm to blame this on, just plain bad luck! Nursing in the dark was a little difficult for this new mom and I discovered that there are more uses for the iPad than blogging. It gives light! We managed to find a flashlight and struggled through a few feedings, diaper blowouts, and outfit changes. The power came back right about the time the sun was about to rise. While I can't claim to be well rested, we survived the night and in the days of a newborn, survival seems to be the goal!
