Sleet day

Growing up in Iowa, school cancellation due to snow was a common occurrence.  The difference between Iowa and North Carolina is that in Iowa, actual snow generally needed to be falling before things start shutting down.  Last night, the state was basically preparing to shut down and everything was cancelled before any winter weather hit.  Some may call it "being prepared" and other non-Southerners may have other ideas.

Here are the boys getting ready to play in the "snow" this morning.

To be fair, conditions are not good and the day could more accurately be called "sleet day." Of course, Eric still had to go to work and was there until 6.  We are coming off of a few rough days for Avery. She has battled her first ear infection and re-visited her doctor yesterday for her four-month checkup.  She got three shots and they have made her miserable.  In turn, making me miserable.  One side effect of the vaccine for Avery have been huge amounts of spit-up.  Last night in the middle of the night, and after I fed her, she was screaming.... like blood curdling screams.  Then she emptied the entire contents of her stomach on my shirt and hair.  My hair was literally dripping, and she was still screaming.  I had to take a shower at 3 am, a little early to start my day if you ask me.  The same thing happened two more times, one time after taking her pink antibiotic medicine.  On the upside, that vomit was a very pretty color.  You know things are dire when you're trying to see beauty in the vomit color of your child.  She also ran a fever today and was pretty needy. She was acting like a baby if you ask me.
.
Here's a pitiful picture of Jackson and Avery this morning.  Avery has my finger and Jackson has my hair.

This picture is not indicative of our whole day, and things were not so grim.   Avery took a long afternoon nap and woke up in great spirits.  After I was feeling like she was turning the corner, she went loco again.  Thankfully, the boys were great.  I don't know how I'd survive with two wild boys who didn't get along.  Two wild boys who like each other is hard enough.

Eric leaves tomorrow for Virginia and will be gone until Monday very early.  With the sleet pouring down as it is now and more snow forecasted, tomorrow looks like much of the same.  Meaning stir craziness is about to get amped up! But we have our health (sort of), shelter (please stick with us electricity),  food (thank you Harris Teeter pick-up), and each other (minus daddy).  So bring on tomorrow!
